What the ANF does for you

A question we often hear at the ANF is ‘What does the ANF do for us?’

First, I want to tell you all that we are your federation, regardless of if you are a financial ANF member or not. The ANF committee give of our time and resources to serve the whole Australian Naturist (Nudist) community to look to fulfill our vision to “Normalize Nudity”.

As a result, the current ANF committee has three main goals on its current agenda.

Firstly, we want to bring the Australian nudity laws in line with other nations such as the UK, New Zealand, and some European countries. We are in consultation with members of the Naturist community in these other countries as we build our own strategies and prepare to take on the Federal and State Governments to bring greater acceptance and similar privileges here in Australia as it is overseas.

Secondary, the ANF look to aid our naturist community in obtaining affordable insurances. There is a reluctance of most insurance companies to offer insurance to naturist groups stating that we do not meet community standards. The Federation is actively seeking advice and instruction from industry experts and consumer advocacy groups to gain insight and information to work towards a possible national solution.

Thirdly, we have supported local naturist fight to protect the status of their local legal clothing optional beaches. We have not always been successful, but our wins outnumber our losses. Most recently, with the ongoing communication through our Victorian rep, the ANF helped residents hold the local council accountable and thwarted their attempts to introduce paid parking at one of the community’s areas which is next to the clothing optional beach. This was after the successful fight to keep the beach clothing optional. The ANF is now seen by many councils as an authority within the conversation for clothing optional beaches.

Our efforts fighting for any beach is a time-consuming endeavour and often can become a taxing task. Trying to gain new beaches is currently a real struggle with the political climate in Australia today, although this is not stopping us from offering information and individual support.

Our present, and highly active, National Beach Safety Campaign, has seen the ANF to date hand out more than 2500 ANF whistles, with this strategy, we hope, we will encourage a change of attitude and behaviour as to promote greater beach safety awareness.

Other efforts undertaken by the ANF, include extensive historical and archival research specific to each individual beach, members of our committee have even appeared on local and National TV and have conducted many radio interviews compared to our beaches and our naturist lifestyle.

Hopefully, I have given some insight in what the ANF actively does for you as an Aussie Naturist. As we move forward, the ANF needs the full support of the whole community to gain even greater influence as we take on councils, corporate companies and even the Government to stand for our rights as naturists. The bottom line is the more members joining the ANF the louder the voice we have to stand for our community and to achieve results that help to protect our lifestyle both locally and nationally. So, if you are not already, please help to make a difference and consider joining the ANF.
